Description: The latest Mitsubishi Power Module Loss Simulator, MELCOSIM Version 4.0 is now available via the Powerex web site. MELCOSIM will assist you in selecting the best power semiconductor device for your application. It is compatible with Microsoft Windows 2000, XP and Vista.

Product Ratings and Characteristics Description
MELCOSIM 4.0 has maintained the functionality contained in earlier versions, including junction temperature and power loss calculations. Furthermore, it provides the additional capability of calculating junction temperature ripple – an essential feature for determining the junction temperature at low output inverter frequencies, 30 Hz or less. Also, new modules have been added to the library and the library is continuously updated as new products are released.

As with the previous versions, MELCOSIM 4.0 offers fast algorithms, structured I/O windows, exportable file formats, and graphical output.

Graphs include:
• Junction Temperature vs. Output Current
• Junction Temperature vs. Switching Frequency
• Power Loss vs. Output Current
• Power Loss vs. Switching Frequency
• Maximum Output Current vs. Switching Frequency

Applications Description
MELCOSIM 4.0 is applicable for simulating sinusoidal output inverter and DC Chopper modes of IGBT operation.
